Unlike many countries, people in the UK do not have to carry ID around with them at all times.
Because of that, there is no need to carry your BRP card around with you at all times.
The BRP card is a form of ID that is both easily lost and also a prime target for identity thieves.
If a BRP card is lost or stolen, It can take around 10 weeks to replace. Replacements can also can be very expensive and the card holder may find themselves under travel restrictions until the replacement arrives.
It is for these reasons that we advise students to to keep their BRP Card in a safe place at home along with passports and other important documents rather than carrying it around with them.
Obviously, there will be times understand that you may need to prove your age when buying age-restricted products or services or to enter age-restricted venues such as nightclubs.
For these things we recommend that students purchase a UK Identity Card. The two cards we suggest you use are the Validate UK and the Citizencard.
These cards can be bought for as little as £15.00 and if you lose them they are easier to replace than a BRP Card.
