Hello everyone, I thought it was time I introduced myself. I hope you've been enjoying browsing in commonplace! I'm in my third year studying journalism at LCC. I grew up in Indonesia and went to boarding school in Switzerland before moving to London. Studying in UAL has opened my eyes to Ultimate Frisbee which is a sport I absolutely adore!
London College of Communication
Best thing about London
London has endless opportunities, but one must be willing to go out and look for it.
Most challenging thing about London
It's a big city that's quite crowded, feeling at home is not always easy for everybody and I'm one of those people.
Why I chose my course
I have always enjoyed writing and travelling. I thought studying journalism is a good base to learn a little bit about how the media works and I hoped to improve my writing skills.
The most challenging thing about studying at university
I always have to push myself and do what I need to do to do well in university. Self-studying is not easy for everyone and that has been my biggest struggle but I've managed so far!
What I wish I'd known before coming to university
Before starting uni, I was always very worried and scared but I should've known that I wasn't the only person feeling this way. There are a lot of other students in the same boat and you shouldn't worry. It will all be okay in the end.
Best secret place in or around London
Well, it wouldn't be a secret if I told everyone would it? I don't really know of specific 'secret' places in London but Tower 47 has some good coffee and delicious bagels! Anytime you're near camden, you should try it out!
Top 3 tips for a new student
1. Always take the opportunity to go out and explore London.
2. If you need help, ASK! Not asking and struggling is the worst thing you can do!
3. Be open to everyone in your class. You'd be surprised how lonely and left out some feel in class. Be the person that people feel comfortable to talk to.
