THE GAZE: A short exhibition about feminist zines
SU Gallery, February 6-16, 2018
London College of Communication,
Elephant & Castle
One of the things that drew us to feminism was the increasing power and international networks of collaboration in recent decades. Our intention is to make visible some ways of working into the topic. The gaze is the act of seeing and being seen.
This short exhibition brings together a Feminist Zine Collection with the aim of diversifying the way of understanding the movement, its research and perspectives, its social impact, its expression and group discussion when addressing its problems in the D.I.Y. culture. Also this event showcases the recent artwork of Cat Catalyst, Teeson Sheen, Lyu Wen, Chui Yin Wong and Rafael MC.
In 2017, Editorial Facsimile did an open call and received 3 copies of 35 publishing projects for the Latin American Feminist Zine Collection, which will be donated to LCC Library and Horst Hartung Franz Library and Editorial Facsimile Library for research and teaching purposes after the exhibition.
We hope this collection could increase over the years.
