This year’s Artsmart festival is on July 9th at London College of Communication. Artsmart is a creative careers festival, free to all University of the Arts London students and graduates. There are a series of talks by industry leading experts, one-to-ones and portfolio masterclasses by The Dots throughout the day.
It’s a really good place to re-focus your energy after the term has finished, whether you’re a graduate or a student. Experts from renowned brands and organisations give you inside advice on how to stand out from other candidates and make the most of your skillset.
There’s talk on how to do it yourself and kickstart your career by Ami Clarke Founder of Banner Repeater, John Hill of Art Collective and Lucky PDF, William Austin, Managing Director of Southwark Studios and Artist and Illustrator, Luke Drozd.
If you want to take an alternative route to making a living from your art, there’s a talk by UAL grads, We Are Pop Up on how to startup with a popup as well as talks on how you can start working as a freelancer and how to be come a successful entrepreneur.
One of the most exciting things about this year’s event is The Dots portfolio masterclasses. There will be some seriously big names who could potentially look at your portfolio (announcement coming soon), so make sure you apply by the 28th June to be in with a chance of getting your portfolio mastered.
People tend to overuse the term: “oh there’s something for everyone” but there really is. Whether you’re studying fashion at LCF, or games design at LCC, there really is a talk or one-to-one for you, so book your place at one of the many talks or portfolio masterclasses to give yourself a better chance of achieving your creative career goals.
